Fairmount Technologies (FT) is a growing advanced manufacturing company developing tooling-free CNC systems for aerospace and defense applications. Our machines dramatically reduce cost and lead time and are already running on real factory floors.
🚀 Recent milestone: FT was selected for a U.S. Department of Defense APFIT award, accelerating deployment of our systems across multiple Air Force maintenance depots. As production ramps up, we’re expanding our integration and quality team.
We’re looking for a Machine Integration & Quality Lead to play a key hands-on role assembling, integrating, testing, and validating advanced CNC machines before deployment.
What You’ll Be Working On
You’ll be deeply involved in the physical build and validation of our machines, including:
Integrating mechanical, electrical, and control components into CNC systems
Performing hands-on assembly, fabrication, cutting, and machining
Wiring line-level and low-voltage electrical systems, sensors, and control components
Reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams
Collaborating closely with engineers to refine designs and improve functionality
Conducting functional testing and quality checks on completed machines
Troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and integration issues during assembly
Supporting prototype builds and production system improvements
Maintaining tools, equipment, and workspaces in an organized, safe manner
Following OSHA safety standards and company policies
This role is highly hands-on and focused on machine integration, build quality, and readiness for deployment.
Why This Role Is Different
Small company → high ownership and visibility
Work directly on complete CNC machines from build to deployment
Close collaboration with engineering and leadership
Mix of fabrication, integration, testing, and problem-solving
Opportunity to help define build processes and quality standards as production scales
You won’t just build machines — you’ll help shape how they’re built.
What We Offer
Competitive salary based on experience and scope of role
(Typical range: $85,000–$150,000+)Flexible working hours
Profit sharing, so you benefit directly from the company’s success
Opportunity to earn phantom equity, allowing you to share in the value you help create
(phantom equity provides real economic upside without the complexity or tax burden of traditional equity ownership)Direct access to leadership and technical decision-making
Long-term growth as production volume and system complexity increase
This Role Might Be Right for You If
You have strong hands-on experience with CNC machines, machine building, or fabrication
You enjoy integrating mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems
You’re comfortable reading drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams
You like troubleshooting and improving real machines
You want your work to matter in a small, growing manufacturing team
You have ~5+ years of hands-on experience building, integrating, or troubleshooting CNC machines or automated equipment (technical degree or equivalent experience).
Experience with CNC machining, wiring, sensors, and control systems is important.
Experience with CAD/CAM, mechatronics, robotics, microcontrollers, or automation is a plus — but practical skill, problem-solving ability, and ownership matter just as much.
This role requires good manual dexterity, comfort working in various positions, and the ability to lift 50+ lbs.
You don’t need to meet every preferred qualification — if this work excites you, we encourage you to apply.
