Fairmount Technologies to Deliver XTRU™ to Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex

XTRU™ tooling-free CNC machines are designed to help WR-ALC produce airframe extrusion components faster and with less reliance on dedicated tooling.


DERBY, Kansas - June 30, 2026 - Fairmount Technologies (FT) is pleased to announce that it has received a contract from the United States Air Force to support Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex (WR-ALC) with FT's XTRU™ tooling-free manufacturing technology.


WR-ALC, located at Robins Air Force Base in Georgia, plays a key role in sustaining U.S. Air Force aircraft. One challenge in aircraft sustainment is finding replacement structural parts for aging platforms, especially when legacy suppliers are no longer available or traditional tools are too costly or time-consuming to reproduce.


FT's XTRU™ suite was developed to help solve that problem. XTRU™ uses flexible CNC machines and digital part programs to produce complex aluminum extrusion components without building a new dedicated tool for every part. This approach can reduce lead time, lower non-recurring tooling costs, and give sustainment teams a faster path from part data to production.


The XTRU™ suite includes XtruForm™ for stretch forming, XtruMach™ for machining, and XtruJog™ for hot and cold joggling. Together, these machines support the forming, machining, and joggling steps commonly needed to produce airframe extrusion components.


Under the contract, FT will provide machine delivery, installation, and training to help WR-ALC evaluate and use XTRU™ technology for rapid airframe sustainment applications.

Fairmount Technologies has developed multiple generations of XTRU™ machines over the past 15 years with support from defense sustainment organizations, sponsoring agencies, Wichita State University, and FT's internal engineering and manufacturing teams. The company remains focused on helping the defense industrial base produce critical airframe parts faster, more affordably, and with greater flexibility.
